Hello friend and/or student,
Although I teach in group settings, I specialize in on one-on-one private, semi-private and niche workshops for best results.
So if haven't heard of me yet, or if you have but not seen many of my classes over the years, that's why. Quality is more important to me than quantity. There are plenty of instructors teaching plenty of group salsa classes and I do recommend them, whether I have group class myself or not.
So, with my teaching style, patience, confidence and pride in my work, I do what 95% of other instructors and ballroom studios don't do -- and that's promising an up-front, money-back, satisfaction guarantee (see Q & A for details). I'm not saying I'm the best, but I am an expert on what I know and been in the salsa scene long enough and taught long enough to be a professional. Consider me your "Salsa Life Coach" in O.C. or abroad.

Bio
For 14 years of dancing salsa and having no formal
dance training prior, Marcelo knows how to take an
average Joe or Jane with a passion to learn, with no
dance background, to being able to dance on there own
confidently and on a new level of fun not experienced before.
Why?
Although Marcelo has his share in teaching experience, competitions and performances, he's been in the shoes of someone who has no dancing ability and knows first hand the frustrations and intimidations of the beginner. He therefore, understandingly and patiently teaches the philosophy and mechanics while making it a challenge to expand (or contract) their abilities.
Marcelo started out by reluctantly taking one very basic lesson in 1992 to get a feel on what salsa was like. And when he shortly after went to a salsa club for the
first time and saw how couples danced with such liveliness, sexiness and grace under the energy of the live salsa band he was hooked. He made a commitment that night to not only learn it but to dance it well at a high level.
He initially learned from small no-named instructors locally and studios...to the well-known pro's. Then through a lot of trial and error and ongoing research, Marcelo got the attention of others and was repeatedly asked if he taught. He began teaching just 2 years later and it led to opening his own salsa studio in 1997.
He’s competed in several competitions never placing below 3rd place in prestigious clubs such as The 720 club in Chicago, The Conga Room in Los Angeles, Sportsman’s Lodge in Studio City and Music City in Orange County. He’s worked on a movie set with Denzel Washington for a salsa dance scene in the movie "Antoine Fisher" and on a t.v. set with Salma Hayek for a salsa scene in "Ugly Betty." Despite that, Marcelo chooses to stay local and continues to dance socially today.
There are many salsa dancers turn "instructors" in the last 7 years and there are many good instructors, either hard to get too being in L.A. or traveling around or mostly diverse in their dances (franchise ballroom studios) not master of one. One thing is for sure, Marcelo says: "Not every good salsa dancer is a good instructor and not every good instructor is a good salsa dancer."
Although Marcelo is adept in other Latin dances (Cumbia, Merengue, Cha Cha, Argentine Tango and Bachata), he does however specialize in dancing salsa. He guarantees to give you an effective experience of this dance while growing yourself personally whether you have "able feet" or "two left feet."!
