What Do I Wear To Class?
Wearing something cool and comfortable is fine. I suggest wearing shoes with smooth soles versus rubber soles for men & women. For ladies, make sure you wear shoes that are flexible and provide good ankle support (like dance shoes).
Do I Need A Partner?
No. One will be provided, if necessary, for men (on private lessons). For workshops, all participants will rotate partners anyway and everyone gets a chance to dance with a partner. In General, dancing with different people allows you to become a better leader and follower.
What is The Age Range Of Your Students?
Any teen to 50's is okay. Anything younger or older will require a separate class or one-on-one due to hight level or pace level.
What is your list of services?
1. Salsa instruction, training, coaching & consulting - private & group.
2. Choreography - building, refining & consulting.
3. Performances (based on availability) - events & private parties.
4. Salsa dance shoes (for women and men).
What are your rates for private lessons?
From $60/hr. to $80/hr, depending on a package deal or not, couples, making house calls, etc.
Call or see my emails for specific rates and specials (subscribe to my list if not on it) for my private
lessons and all workshops.
Do you offer any sort of guarantee?
Yes (something most instructors studio owners and ballroom franchises
are not willing to do). If by the end of any private lesson or semi-private
workshop I conduct, you are not satisfied or felt no improvement, I will
either not ask to be paid with no hard feelings or I'll work with you privately at no charge
till you are! Also, there are no contracts or obligation to continue on package deals.
Shoes can be returned or exchanged within 2 weeks, only if bottom sole has no sign of wear and rest of shoe is not damaged or scratched.
What other benefits can I expect from dancing salsa?
1. First of all, fun!
2. Physical health as exercise and weight loss.
If you were to dance 30 minutes continuously* or in 10min. sessions every day, will give
you additional health benefits, such as:
- Increase bone density, reducing the risk of osteoporosis;
- Improve cardiopulmonary functions and blood circulation;
- Lesser risk of coronary heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes;
- Improve joints' agility and suppleness, thus reducing the risk of sprain.
3. Reduced stress.
4. Increased self esteem.
5. Confidence builder (great ego boost too).
6. Attract a social prestige most people will admire or envy!
7. Enlarge social circle and popularity.
8. Improve relationship with significant other socially and/or intimatly.
9. A way to experience a "high" or adrenaline rush without drugs.
10. Self expression - a beautiful and fulfilling thing once comfortable and able to flow
without thinking to the feel of the music with a good partner.
11. Improve flexibility and coordination.
12. Improve posture - not only better for your spine as we age, but also impacts how
people see you at first glance.
* To avoid injury, do warm-up and cool-down exercises before and after dancing respectively. If you feel unwell during exercise, stop immediately and seek medical assistance.
Where Are Private Lessons Held?
Private Lessons are held at either Newport Beach studio (Avant Garde) or Laguna Hills studio (Laguna Rhythem Dance Studio) . I can do "house calls", some of my students prefer to have their private lessons in the comfort of their own home. Contact me for specific rates on each.
What Other Dances Do You Teach?
Although I specialize in Salsa at all levels, I can also teach Argentine Tango (beg.& interm.), Cha-Cha-Cha (beg. & interm.), Cumbia, Merengue and Bachata.
What do you charge for performances?
The cost to you will depend on several factors, such as what type of event it is, the amount of people involved, how far the location is, the time length of me & my partners stay, etc. Contact me for pricing. 714.585.7344 or salsa@marcelorivero.net
How can I learn to dance better, quickly?
The best way to learn how to get better quickly is by taking private lessons in conjunction with any other group classes...plus...practicing by yourself physically and mentaly often on your own time...plus...go out dancing socially as often as possible. Doing that in combination will explode your growth in salsa dancing.
